Vendor's Frequently Asked Questions

E

What is the difference between a farm, craft and food vendor?

A farm vendor is a person who sells their farm product at the market. A farm vendor’s sales must be 80% of their total sales in order to be considered a farm vendor.

A fine arts & craft vendor is a person who creates, designs, and sells their own unique product.

A food vendor sells food items they have produced in accordance with the Panhandle Health Department rules and regulations.

How do I become a FARM vendor?

Vendors must be located within a 100-mile radius of Farmin Park in Sandpoint, excluding Canada. The vendor must be actively tending or producing products on land that he or she rents or owns or otherwise has control of for agricultural purposes as determined by the board. Buying products for resale, or selling products not produced on your rented or owned land is prohibited, with the exception of wild, native edibles (huckleberries for example).

New and returning applicants must pay the $20 application fee and fill out the application.

Farm vendors are accepted and are not required to be juried. Farms may be inspected.

How do I become a CRAFT vendor?

New and returning applicants must pay the $20 application fee and fill out the application.

New craft vendors must include photos of all the products they wish to sell at the market. Once per month the board of directors meets to jury new vendors. After the jury meets you will be notified of the decision

What kind of products can I bring as a craft vendor?

There is a wide variety of products we allow at the Farmers’ Market at Sandpoint! Every product sold MUST be made by the artist selling it. We do not allow the resale of any item, that means no consigning or using kits. For specific questions, it’s best to reach out to the market manager at farmersmarketatsandpoint@gmail.com

I’m a returning craft vendor with NEW products, do I need to have those items juried?

Yes! If the new items are not within the same category you will need to note it on your application and submit photos and waiton the results of the jury before you bring that item to market. IE-you are a returning jeweler wanting to bring hand knit scarves. You will need to submit photos of those scarves.

How do I become a FOOD vendor?

New and returning applicants must pay the $20 application fee and fill out the application.

Cottage food, i.e., items must fill out a cottage food risk assessment form.

Cottage foods are non temperature controlled foods. Please visit https://panhandlehealthdistrict.org/food-safety/ for more in depth information

All other food items must obtain the necessary licenses before they can begin making sales at the market. You will need to contact Panhandle Health Department for the licenses.

New food vendors must submit samples of their food to be juried by the board of directors. The manager will contact you for specifics on timing. There will be a jury session only once per month until June.

I’m a returning food vendor with NEW products, do I need to have those items juried?

Yes! If the new items are not within the same category you will need to note it on your application and submit samples and wait on the results of the jury before you bring that item to market. IE- You sell breakfast burritos at the market and want to sell cookies as well, you will need to note this on your application and submit samples BEFORE you bring them to market.

I’m a farmer and I want to bring my homemade muffins to sell at the market, do I need to have them juried?

That depends! As a farmer you may bring prepared foods and arts or crafts if one or more of the top three ingredients or materials is grown by the vendor.

Farmers must still register their food products with PHD and follow all guidelines for selling homemade food.

I want to play music at the market, how can I do that?

Fill out the short music application here. We do not allow buskers in the park during market business hours while we have musicians on stage.
